Medical Equipment Planning & Procurement

20-35% of a hospital’s total project budget can be driven by the cost of medical equipment. A typical project incorporates at a minimum, hundreds, if not thousands, of existing or new pieces of medical equipment that must be planned and coordinated.

APM Equipment Planners interface with a wide variety of project team members including C-suit, clinical and support services user groups, project managers, design teams, vendors, biomed, supply chain professionals and others involved in a major construction project. The goal is to give each responsible party the medical equipment information they need to make informed and timely decisions involving the medical equipment clinical need, use and placement within the project.

We provide equipment expertise during user reviews and site visits to assess the impact of new medical equipment technology on your project. There are a multitude of decisions to be made regarding medical equipment. Our Equipment Planners lead detailed planning sessions to review equipment needs, confirm proper locations within the plan with the users and design team, review existing versus new equipment, and make recommendations as appropriate to meet the scope needs of the project.

APM is also equipped to procure the equipment for your project by:

– Developing purchase requisitions

– Issuing requisitions and purchase orders for those equipment items

– Expediting and tracking deliveries to the site or warehouse

We can develop a detailed installation schedule for your owner furnished, contractor installed equipment, vendor installed equipment, and other architecturally significant equipment that will have placement in your project. APM understands normal delivery lead times and can accurately plan for the volume of orders that need to be received, tracked, unboxed, assembled and installed in your new facility.
